Katie Farmer was appointed president and chief executive officer in January 2021. Katie has been with BNSF for 28 years, most recently serving as executive vice president, Operations since September 2018, where she oversaw the entire Operations organization. Katie received a bachelor's and master's degree from Texas Christian University. Upon graduation, she began her career with Burlington Northern in 1992 as a management trainee in Fort Worth, Texas.
Steve Bobb was appointed executive vice president and chief marketing officer in January 2013. A graduate of North Dakota State University and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, Steve began his career in the railroad industry in 1987 with Burlington Northern in information systems. Previously, he was group vice president, Coal Business Group, leading BNSF’s coal sales and marketing team.
Matt Igoe was appointed executive vice president and chief operations officer in January 2021. A graduate of Canisius College with a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University, Matt joined the BNSF team in 1998 as a management trainee after serving as an officer in the U.S. Army. Prior to his current role, he previously held the position of vice president, Transportation since July 2017.
Roger Nober has been an executive vice president with BNSF since January 2007. Prior to joining BNSF Railway, Roger served as chairman of the United States Surface Transportation Board from 2002-2006. A graduate of Haverford College and the Harvard University School of Law, Roger was previously a partner in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he focused his practice primarily on transportation law and legislative matters.
Julie Piggott was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer for BNSF Railway in February 2014. Prior to this appointment, Julie served as vice president, Planning & Studies and Controller. A graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, Southern Methodist University Graduate School and the Harvard Business School at Harvard University, Julie started her career with the Burlington Northern in 1991.
