The BNSF Shortline Conference is a forum for shortlines to connect with BNSF to explore mutual opportunities and share ideas. The conference includes speakers, commercial team meetings, workshops, dinner and numerous networking opportunities.

BNSF Shortline Conference Survey Results

Each year following BNSF's annual shortline conference, we send out a survey to obtain valuable feedback from participants. Here are the highlights from this year's survey:

  • Eighty-two percent of survey participants gave BNSF's 2017 Shortline Conference an "Excellent" or "Very Good" rating compared to eighty percent in 2016.
  • Shortlines want BNSF to continue to have Commercial Team Meetings and Workshops at future conferences, with ninety-three percent of respondents replying in the affirmative.
  • All of this year's speakers received high marks from survey participants. Michael Smythers' Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs Update was the top rated presentation.
  • The highest rated commercial team meetings included the Maintenance Best Practices, Petroleum and Wind Energy workshops.
  • Many respondents also praised the networking opportunities and the Downtown Fort Worth location.
  • More time to interact with BNSF market managers was noted as an area for improvement at future conferences. A few respondents also expressed a desire to see a more focused shortline perspective in presentations.
  • Finally, our conference app also received positive remarks. Eighty-three percent of survey participants used the app this year, and rated the "Schedule" as the most valued feature.
